About this event

Nine lives of Zosimos is a unique telematic opera performed across four countries. Inspired by the Indian "Navarasa" dance and its portrayal of nine core emotions, the libretto follows the alchemist Zosimos from 300 AD Cairo on his quest for the potion of immortality, through pivotal historical moments like the 1967 "Summer of Love" and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Featuring music by Jostein Stalheim—blending Egyptian, Norwegian, and Italian influences—and directed by Joseph W. Alford, the opera explores the profound human struggles with freedom, fear, and the cycle of life and death.

Nine Lives of Zosimos is a telematic opera, performed live and simultaneously across four countries. At its heart, it asks a question that belongs to all of us: can we ever be free, or will we always be guided by what we feel?
