About this event

What story would you like to tell today?
Or what is something that's always on your mind, and you'd love to see take a tangible form? If you have a feeling or an idea you'd like to hold onto, how might we translate it through art?

Stitched Stories is a sensory, interactive workshop through the art of embroidery, where we use stitches and threads as a way to tell our personal stories.
It could be a story connected to a memory, an experience, a phase of life, or even a feeling you're living with right now. Through embroidery, we'll create a space to express our thoughts and emotions, and transform what's inside us into something tangible made by our own hands.

The goal of this workshop isn't to learn embroidery professionally, but to discover how we can use it as a tool for expression, and how we can turn an idea, a feeling, or a story into a personal artwork.

We'll begin with simple exercises, light writing, and open conversations around the workshop's theme, creating a doorway into the artwork each participant wants to make.
Then, we'll move into the practical part, where we'll learn different embroidery stitches, experiment with a variety of materials, and use them to bring our stories to life in our own unique ways.

In a warm and welcoming space, everyone is invited to experiment and express themselves freely, without pressure or judgment about the final outcome.
We'll play with thread and materials, express, share, listen, and discover new ways to tell our stories.

**No previous experience in art or embroidery is required.

About the Facilitator
Waad Saeed is an embroidery artist and the founder of “Daw.” She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and began her journey with workshops in 2020. She has designed and facilitated various embroidery-based workshops in collaboration with different institutions. Each workshop had its own specific focus, but they all shared a common thread: exploring how embroidery can be shared with people as both an art form and a cultural practice that tells diverse stories, while also serving as a tool for creativity and self-expression.

Currently, she is more interested in experimenting with different artistic media, and she integrates embroidery with collage and a variety of materials in her practice. She enjoys exploring how different art forms can intersect, and she brings this spirit of experimentation into the workshops she leads with participants.
