🎟️ Free Entrance
The evening will be led by Sheikh Zein Mahmoud and his ensemble, performing Sufi heritage songs and traditional devotional chants that revive the spirit of Ramadan in MASQ historic setting. Known for his powerful voice and a background in spiritual musical traditions, Sheikh Zein transforms the courtyard into a space of unique experience and celebration.
The night opens with vocals by Hayaa Al-Mowail, who arrived in Cairo from Aleppo in 2012. Influenced by the music of Aleppo and alternative projects she encountered in Cairo, her compositions are shaped by tunes originating from Aleppo and free jazz. She will be joined by Mahmud Waly (bass guitar), Shadi El-Hosseiny (piano), Marwan Elgamal (oud), and Bouda Yazrrd (percussion).
We recommend arriving a little earlier to secure your place and allow time to reach the venue within the Qaitbey area.
The concert is part of the “Ramadan at Qaitbey’s” programme, MASQ and featuring a Female Mawlawiya performance and the Ramadan Handcrafts Sultan’s Fair. The programme is funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.
Come early, bring someone with you. Enjoy!
