Mazaher Ensemble (Zar)

Zar is one of the few musical forms in which women take a leading role.

Its artistic importance lies in the fact that it has lived largely isolated from processes of influence and exchange, due to social and state marginalization, thus preserving its original structure, which may date back to ancient Egyptian times.

Zar extends across the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, the Gulf region, Iraq, and Iran.

In Egypt, Zar is divided into three types: the Masri (Upper Egyptian) Zar, Abu El Gheit Zar, and the Sudanese (African) Zar.

First Concert – Wednesday at 8:30 PM
Second Concert – Wednesday at 10:00 PM

Dear audience, due to the small space of Makan and the limited number of seats, please note:
1- Advance reservation is required at least one day before via WhatsApp
2- Doors open for reserved tickets at 7:30 pm for the first concert & at at 9:15 pm for the second concert
3- Reservations are released at 7:50 pm for the first concert & at 9:35 pm for the second concert
4- Waiting list entry starts after reservations are released (if seats are available)
5- The concert may begin earlier than scheduled time in case of a full house
