Abu El Gheit Ensemble performing at Bayt Al-Suhaymi
The Abu al-Gheit Ensemble presents Al-Sīra al-Hilāliyya, one of the most important epic poems of the Arabic oral tradition. The singer and storyteller Ismail Radwan will tell the story of the Bānū Hilāl tribe who in the 11th century, from the Najd, conquered the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa. Accompanied by rababa and percussion (tabla, duff, hana), the epic poem is orally transmitted and recited in popular religious festivities, in cafes or on stages set up in small alleys.
